We develop circular solutions that convert blue swimming crab processing waste into high-value products such as chitosan, biocomposite films, and recovered bioactive compounds, promoting sustainability across the fisheries sector.
From laboratory research and technology development to stakeholder consultations, site visits, and capacity-building workshops, we work with coastal communities to advance sustainable waste valorization practices.
Our projects focus on chitosan extraction, protein recovery from processing waste, and the development of sustainable biocomposite materials that support environmental protection and local livelihoods.

The proposed project focuses on the promotion of a circular model via the extraction and utilization of chitosan from crustacean (i.e., blue swimming crab) shells, incorporating a waste-free production process for protein recovery and wastewater valorization. (Shown in Figure below)
